Web Hosting Engineer – Cisco / Linux / Windows - £35k

A Web Hosting Engineer with knowledge of internet technologies and network protocols is required by our Oxford based Client. A package of up to £35,000 is available dependent upon experience.

The Network Engineer will focus on supporting networks protocols OSPF, BGP as well as Linux and Windows platforms. You will have knowledge of technologies such as BIND and FreeBSD and Postfix or similar technical training and experience. Knowledge of IIS server and strong hosting skills is advantageous.

You will work with a dedicated network support team to take on responsibility for the support and maintenance of Web Solutions direct to UK clients. You will be responsible for providing support for Internet solutions and related systems including server, router, firewalls and telecoms.

Commercial or non-commercial knowledge is the majority of the following areas is required:
- Windows 2000/2003
- Linux / FreeBSD / DFS / BIND / Squid / Postfix
- TCP/IP and Internet WAN technologies (proxies, web caches, DNS, POP3/SMTP)
- Cisco (routers, switches, firewalls)

This is an ideal role for Web Hosting Engineer with a mix of Linux, Cisco or Windows experience. Candidates with any language programming/scripting skills in PERL and PHP are also highly desirable, but not essential

Salary - £30,000 - £35,000 basic including £3,500 on-call allowance plus pension & training.

Linux Systems Administrator with strong knowledge of web sites or web hosting is required by a media company in London. Candidates can expect a salary of £35,000.

1. Assist in planning and implementing application upgrades;
2. Assist the development and testing teams in the rollout of projects;
3. Assist in all aspects of the operating system maintenance and configuration;
4. Provide day to day support to both production and development environments;
5. Installation of Solaris, Linux, Apache, php and database clients;
6. Carry out performance tuning;
7. Research and Development of technologies to enhance existing and new systems

- Proven Linux or Solaris administration experience (RHEL is preferred);
- Strong shell scripting abilities (bash, bourne and others);

The Systems Administrator will deliver on all aspect of the IT infrastructure and web development as this strategic role will define IT policies, manage external contract and be involved in all internal technical processes.

The Systems Administrator will have commercial Linux system administration and strong Apache hosting with LAN/WAN networking skills. You will have strong development skills in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the ability to write technical proposals for engagement of external designers/developers
